What's New?

Well, as evidenced by my last post, he's new:

Brother-in-law #2, and I like him... mostly.

New undies after going here: (I really hope that's not inappropriate....)

It was really wonderful. And now I'm officially a member of the club!

New knives

Which I have been wanting forever. Good knives make all the difference in the kitchen.

This adorable little thing is also new

I wish it was sunny and the car was clean for this picture, but you get what you get.
I now drive a MINI Cooper S (with a turbo engine, hello!) and it is SO fun!

And very soon Mady and I will have new digs (an apartment together)! We are pretty excited. I sure can't wait to use my new knives and eat on my new-ish china!!

In summation: I feel like a somewhat new, significantly poor-er person!

The Worst Goodbye of All

This post has been a long time coming. Like 26 years long in fact. It was always going to come to this. But no amount of warning, time, or self-pep-talks could have adequately prepared me for it.

Jessie got married.
And in her newlywed bliss, she left me reeling in the dust.

If you think I sound like a pathetic, selfish brat and that I should post about how incredibly happy I am for her, you are right. I've posted about how much I love her before (multiple times, in fact. See: we-us, back together, 26th bday, etc ), so this post is going to be about me, alright?!

And if you are going to think less of me because of it, then please quit reading.... ready, now.
You can also quit reading if you get bored easily... this is going to be long.

Jessie has been my very best, and closest friend for literally my entire life. We are truly a single piece split in two. My mother dressed us the same as kids, which lead to us being asked constantly if we were twins. We would reply in unison, "No, we're 16 months apart," and that only made us seem more like twins. We've shared rooms, clothes, cars, and even some boys.
(So I guess this post is going to be about her anyway. I hate her sometimes. And no, this isn't my toast from her wedding, even if it sounds like it.)

Growing up we:
played house and/or school... ALL THE TIME - and of course Jes always made me be the boy...
recorded awesome music videos and talk shows (like "Talk About" with Shelley Osterloh)
baked mud pies in the "brick oven" we made
made haunted houses in the basement and nasty drink concoctions
had sleepovers and stayed up late giggling
got perms
rode our bikes to and hung out in forts at the parkway
put on fashion shows
laughed until we wet our pants, cried until our heads ached, and every imaginable thing in between.

More recently we:
finally lived together on our own
cooked delicious meals and treats
said goodbye too many times while Jes worked out those wild hairs
held annual passes to Disneyland
traveled to some of the most incredible places on Earth
had even more slumber parties and pillow talk
became scarily in-tune with each other
shared in triumphs of personal achievement and heartaches beyond our control

In short... or long... Jes and I have shared in nearly every experience. We have always been each other's "person".

Enter John Farrow..... and cue the Jaws theme song.....

He took my "person", moved her far, far away and changed her last name from mine. I cried and cried when he told me he was going to propose. And you know what......?

I am SO happy for my Jessie. I am thankful to John for giving her everything she was looking for (even if she wasn't sure of what that was herself). She is not merely a means to an end for me, she is an end herself. Her joy is my joy, and because of that, my cup runneth over.

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE you Jessie!

You will always be my person.
